Isatis tinctoriais is a member of the cabbage or brassicas family. The leaves of the plant when fermented produce a lovely cornflower blue   It is a biannual plant which means it grows for the first year and produces flowers and seeds the second year   Native to Europe, the plant is commonly known as Woad, Dyer’s Woad, Dyer’s Weed, Glastum, and Asp of Jerusalem.
